I could post another picture about cats, but I find this photo series heartbreaking. We are so focused on helping other countries, when there are third world conditions right at home. These photos were taken by Jeff Brouws of Detroit, Michigan. More photos are in the Huffington Post link above.
I agree that kids should not be allowed to tweet or post on their personal accounts in class and social media leads to inappropriate teacher-student contact. BUT - creating classroom wikis, easily sharing lesson plans and homework assignments, and teaching students the important skills gained from social media would be undoubtedly beneficial to the future of our country.
Now all we have to do is create jobs for them…
